Ain't no way in hell that I'd camp out in front of some retail chain to get a $20 DVD player or a $5 Zu Zu Pet. No way! I'd rather have each of my toenails pulled from the nail bed with a pair of pliers than go shopping on Black Friday. Christmas is supposed to be a joyful time. Crowded malls + rude people + merchandise shortages = anything but a joyful time.
Hate me if you will, but I'm pretty much done with the Christmas shopping. My rule? Have all shopping done before Thanksgiving. Thank God for the internet and free shipping. I never have to leave the house! It's great; I can buy every Star Wars action figure in existence while still in my pajamas!
Online shopping saves me money too. I went to Macy's on Wednesday to pick up a few smaller gifts for various people. I ended up buying myself more stuff than anyone! Hell, they were having a sale! And I had coupons! Mr. OCD is going to shit when he sees my bill, but I needed those bras. Dammit.
Today for kicks, I browsed the internet just see some of the Black Friday specials I missed. It does kind of suck that I paid about $50 more for my daughter's Nintendo DS (Walmart had them for $89 today. They were sold out online by the time I looked.). And I missed one heck of a deal on the Cricut Expression (on sale for $185), but I'm okay with that. It sure beats me doing time for homicide. And having my children raised by Mr. OCD's new wife, a nymphomaniac stripper who looks like Gwen Stefani.

Some people are CARRRRRRRAZY! Toys are this important? I had ONE Barbie growing up. lol
Black Friday doesn't do much for me, either. Obviously the retailers are not going to get any LESS desperate as Christmas nears.
Luckily, my gift-giving list is not so long. The kids are happy with one or two items and the adults I know just do not derive that much pleasure from receiving gifts. They either aren't very materialistic or they buy what they want/need throughout the year.
This is the first Christmas I had almost all of my Christmas gifts bought early. I'm talking before Thanksgiving early. It felt awesome. We've never been HUGE, EXPENSIVE gift people and try now more than ever to focus on the real meaning of CHRISTmas. I go crazy just grocery shopping in Walmart at 1:00 in the afternoon on a Tuesday. I WILL NEVER DO THE WAIT IN LINE FOREVER ON BLACK FRIDAY TO SAVE A FEW BUCKS. My sanity is much to valuable. Carolyn
