I got up at 5:00 a.m. this morning just so I could go to the gym before Satan had to report to work. I put up with Rounds 1, 2, and 3 of the incessant fighting between my kids, washed the bedding after my son got pissed and literally pissed everywhere, did two time outs in two separate locations at the same time, got the kids dressed so
I finally rolled into the drive at around 5:00 p.m. What do you think were the first words out of Satan's mouth??? Yep, you guessed it...
"What's for supper?!?!"
Of course, this question came as I entered the door with two screaming kids and an arm full of crap acquired during the day. As if that wasn't enough, Satan's spawn, Curly Q, was in the midst of a meltdown because she wanted to run down the road after the neighbors on bikes. Being the pushover he is, Satan was promising diamonds, pearls, and a Hawaii vacation to Curly Q if she'd just stop screaming.
"Where exactly were the neighbors when you saw them riding on the road?"
As if I'd felt like giving him GPS coordinates for those little hellions. I went off! And he had the nerve to retaliate with his typical, yet deadly, fighting words, "If you don't like it, you can just leave."
WTF? Seriously?!?! How's a girl supposed to respond to that one??? He knows it totally pisses me off because I have nothing! Sure, I could come back with, fine, I'll leave! but how dumb is that shit? I'm a lot of things, but dumb is not one of them.
I want to say, FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU! Maybe if I weren't playing the Silent Treatment right now, I would do exactly that.
Oh, he is soooo sleeping on the couch tonight!

sometimes i wonder why men/husbands lack the filter...and say the dumbest/most offensive/ridiculous things. And I hate it how dads are the good ones and mommies are always the bad guys....sorry, sweetie.
you should go soak in the tub w/ a good book and let him handle everything for the rest of the night PLUS sleep on the couch!
All I have to say is don't let it just blow over. I've been there. They are old enough to think about what they are saying. Why tell someone to leave unless you mean it? To me, the translation is: I don't care if I'm an incorrigible, pompous ass. I don't care enough about you to try to change. I'd rather retain the right to be a raving nut job than try to come over to your side and compromise. Of course, they all know good and well they would faint if you walked out the door.
It's officially mended when he admits he realizes where you are coming from.
BTW, my DH comment is "I guess we are all supposed to fend for ourselves for dinner." Well, sure, it's probably only the 10th time in 21 years you haven't come home to a decent home-cooked meal!
Oh, men. I swear they're a different species!
My husband told me that exactly one time. My youngest was about 6 weeks old and at the height of his colic. The oldest was still in diapers and screaming his head off, too. My husband was playing a video game and couldn't understand why I needed help with bathtime. When he said that I started packing. He shut up and hasn't said it since.
And I probably should (and will) blog about this sometime.
Oh man Rick has no clue, just like now he's laid off and I'm working paying the bills and I'm still doing all the household stuff too! While he's sleeping in I'm getting up early working, clocking out to feed the kids and do laundry/dishes etc. How come it's always still the mom's job and we don't work as hard or do as much.
I've told him he can move out, but why leave his sugar mama ... UGH!!!!
